LaSalle hangs on, beats Sarnia 4-2

The LaSalle Vipers beat the Sarnia Legionnaires, 4-2, in a contest where the winning goal was scored in the first period but the game remained close throughout.

A goal 1:59 into the first period by Chris Pignanelli proved to be the game winner, and powered LaSalle to the victory. Connor Rosaasen provided the assist.

With the win, the Vipers evened the series at 2-2 in the best of seven showdown.

Brendan Harrogate had two goals to lead LaSalle to victory. Harrogate scored at 41 seconds into the first period to make the score 1-1 and again while 7:35 into the second to make the score 3-1 LaSalle.

The Vipers stifled Sarnia's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. LaSalle's offense rang up 48 shots on the Legionnaires' net.

LaSalle additionally got points from Pignanelli, who also had one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. LaSalle also got a goal from Tyler Russell as well. Other players who recorded assists for LaSalle were Eric Kirby, Nathan Savage, Daniel Beaudoin, and Graham Pickard, who each chipped in one.

Sarnia's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five LaSalle power plays.

The Legionnaires were helped by Jordan Fogarty, who finished with one goal. Fogarty scored 8:13 into the second period to make the score 3-2 LaSalle. Ryan Vendramin assisted on the tally. Davis Boyer also scored for Sarnia. More assists for Sarnia came via Cody Trowell and Ryan Trottier, who contributed one each.

Paolo Battisti rejected 21 shots on goal for the Vipers. LaSalle incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Sarnia's Andrew Masters stopped 44 shots out of the 48 that he faced. The Legionnaires incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
