Elmira downs Waterloo, 6-3

The Waterloo Siskins fell to the Elmira Sugar Kings, 6-3.

The win by Elmira clinched the best of seven series at 4-0.

The Sugar Kings excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances.

Elmira was helped by Brendan Schneider, who finished with one goal and one assist. Schneider scored 6:03 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Elmira. Klayton Hoelscher picked up the assist. Elmira also got points from Brodie Whitehead, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Hoelscher, who also tallied one goal and one assist, and Zac Coulter, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Mac Clutsam also scored for Elmira. In addition, Elmira received assists from Alex Mutton, Chad Herron, and Jonathan Reinhart, who contributed one each and Mitch Klie and Mitch Wright, who each chipped in two.

Waterloo forced the Sugar Kings goalie Reinhart to work between the pipes, taking 37 shots.

The Siskins were helped by Danny Hanlon, who registered one goal. Hanlon scored 7:05 into the third period to make the score 4-2 Elmira. Christian Mroczkowski assisted on the tally. Waterloo additionally got points from Mroczkowski, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Waterloo also got a goal from Michael Romund as well. More assists for Waterloo came via Luke Gazzola, who had two and Kyle Betts and Connor Bodnar, who contributed one each.

Reinhart rejected 34 shots on goal for Elmira. The Sugar Kings incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with 11 minors. Evgeny Kiselev took the loss and made 18 saves before being replaced by Bailey DeGasperis who made zero saves. Waterloo incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
