Amante lifts Leamington over London, 5-2

Behind a great game by Mitchell Amante, who had two goals, the Leamington Flyers defeated the London Nationals, 5-2.

Amante scored on the power play at 14:06 into the second period to make the score 2-2 and again while 16:51 into the second to make the score 3-2 Leamington.

The win by Leamington clinched the best of seven series at 4-2.

The Flyers forced London goalie Justin Tugwell to work between the pipes, taking 33 shots.

Leamington also got points from Tyler Duarte, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Leamington included Cale Phibbs and Zack Guilbeault, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Leamington were Kyle Quick, who had two and Jacob McGhee, Eric Henderson, and Kyle Perkowski, who contributed one each.

The Nationals were held back by their power play unit, which tallied two goals on 10 chances.

London was helped by Justin Murray, who registered one goal. Murray scored on the power play 10:07 into the first period to make the score 1-0 London. The Nationals had gained a power play chance when Amante was whistled for interference. Mitchell Kreis assisted on the tally. Anthony Kotsovos also scored for London. In addition, London received assists from Derek Todosichuk and Kevin Madden, who each chipped in one.

Michael Barrett rejected 28 shots on goal for Leamington. The Flyers incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with 11 minors. Justin Tugwell made 28 saves for London on 32 shots. The Nationals incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors. London ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Michael Woolley was ejected from the game.
