Casper Coyotes' comeback falls short, Salt Lake City Moose wins 3-1

Salt Lake City Moose, which led by three goals at one point, survived a comeback attempt by Casper Coyotes and clinched a 3-1 victory.

Salt Lake City Moose led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when Salt Lake City Moose's Zach Ahiers scored at 17:04 in the second period to put Salt Lake City Moose up 3-0.

After the loss made the series score 1-0 in the best of three series, Casper Coyotes faces elimination next time out.

Salt Lake City Moose was led by goalie Brad Robertson, who finished with 38 saves while allowing one goal. Robertson certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 2.13 entering the contest.

Salt Lake City Moose's penalty kill excelled, as Salt Lake City Moose gave up one goal despite allowing six power plays.

Salt Lake City Moose was helped by Ryan Solomon, who finished with one goal and one assist. Solomon scored on the power play 13:52 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Salt Lake City Moose. Salt Lake City Moose had gained a power play chance when Troy Saunders was whistled for elbowing. Cole Corson provided the assist. Salt Lake City Moose additionally got points from Corson, who also racked up one goal and one assist. In addition, Salt Lake City Moose received assists from Dmitry Kuznetsov, who had one and Jonathan Svensson, who had two.

Casper Coyotes forced Salt Lake City Moose goalie Robertson to work between the pipes, taking 39 shots.

Casper Coyotes was led by Erik Stenbacka, who scored the team's only goal. Stenbacka scored the first of his two goals at 56 seconds into the third period to make the score 3-1 Salt Lake City Moose. Stenbacka's next tally made the score 3-2 Salt Lake City Moose with 11:17 left in the third period. Casper Coyotes earned a power play opportunity when Jurijs Moiseicenko was put in the box for slashing. Eric Andersson picked up the assist.

Salt Lake City Moose incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Rikard Landfeldt rejected 16 shots on goal for Casper Coyotes. Casper Coyotes incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
