Ogden Mustangs wins tough contest against Colorado Eagles, 6-4WSHL Office Sat, Mar 14, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
In a game where neither team could get a cushion, Ogden Mustangs escaped with a 6-4 victory over Colorado Eagles. Ogden Mustangs gained the winning advantage on a goal by Spencer Norcott 7:13 into the second period and hung on until final buzzer. The win by Ogden Mustangs clinched the best of three series at 2-0. Caleb Pola had a great game for Ogden Mustangs, netting two goals. Pola scored at 13:30 into the second period to make the score 5-3 Ogden Mustangs and again while 15:30 into the second to make the score 6-4 Ogden Mustangs. Ogden Mustangs was led by goalie Andreas Pettersson, who finished with 27 saves while allowing one goal. Despite the solid performance, Pettersson will actually see his goals against average rise, as it stood at 1.35 entering the contest. Ogden Mustangs forced Colorado Eagles goalie Quinn Wold to work between the pipes, taking 47 shots. Ogden Mustangs additionally got points from Norcott, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Edvin Johansson, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Ogden Mustangs also had goals scored by Jon Mencer and Schuyler Seyfert, who each put in one. In addition, Ogden Mustangs received assists from Corey Iapalucci, who had two, Andreas Zollner, who had three, and Clay Cross, Charlie Reed, and Martin Hallin, who each chipped in one. Colorado Eagles' offense rang up 35 shots on Ogden Mustangs' net. Colorado Eagles was led by Scott Smoot, who racked up two goals. Smoot scored the first of his two goals at 6:12 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Smoot's next tally made the score 3-1 Colorado Eagles with 5:06 left in the first period.
