Idaho Junior Steelheads blows out Whitefish Wolverines, 9-0

Idaho Junior Steelheads had a seven-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 9-0 win over Whitefish Wolverines.

After the loss made the series score 1-0 in the best of three series, Whitefish Wolverines faces elimination next time out.

Arturs Sevcenko quarterbacked Idaho Junior Steelheads' offense to perfection and bagged four assists in Idaho Junior Steelheads' win over Whitefish Wolverines.

Idaho Junior Steelheads forced Whitefish Wolverines' goalies to work between the pipes, taking 40 shots and forcing 31 saves. Brendan Schultz made 21 stops and Joakim Hidestrand made 10. Idaho Junior Steelheads stifled Whitefish Wolverines' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Idaho Junior Steelheads' defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in three goals.

Idaho Junior Steelheads additionally got points from Yegor Ivanov, who also registered one goal and two assists, Nikita Zgirskis, who also finished with two goals and one assist, Dimitris Jones, who also grabbed two goals and one assist, Kyle TenEyck, who also tallied one goal and one assist, and Kyle Williams, who also had two goals and one assist. Victor Carlsson also scored for Idaho Junior Steelheads. In addition, Idaho Junior Steelheads received assists from Parker Lewis, Kris Apsitis, Kyle Smith, Kyle Kruenegel, Macky Power, Robert Neuwirth, and Hunter Lester, who contributed one each.

Idaho Junior Steelheads' defense shut down Whitefish Wolverines' forwards for much of the game, and Whitefish Wolverines got off only 11 shots during the contest.

Tyler Hough recorded 11 saves for Idaho Junior Steelheads. Idaho Junior Steelheads totaled 40 minutes in penalty time with five minors and two majors and went 3-for-7 on the power play. Whitefish Wolverines totaled 41 minutes in penalty time with eight minors and three majors and went 0-for-3 on the power play.
