Penn State University falls to Liberty University in overtime, 4-3 (OT)York City Ice Arena Wed, Mar 04, 2015 The Liberty University Flames pulled out a 4-3 (OT) overtime victory over the Penn State University Nitty Lions on a clutch goal by Sarah Stevenson. Liberty University overcame a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. The Flames trailed 3-1 after a goal by Penn State University's Claire Gauthier at 11:43 in the second period. Liberty University tied things up at 3-3 on a goal by Chelsey Greenwood at 14:14 in the third period. Stevenson had a great game for the Flames, netting two goals. Stevenson's tallies came at 18:35 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Penn State University and 4:25 into the fourth to make the score 4-3 Liberty University. Liberty University kept the Nitty Lions' goalie busy throughout the game, and Mary Kate Tonetti made 37 saves on 41 shots. Liberty University also got a goal from Courtney Gilmour as well. In addition, Liberty University received assists from Clarissa Tipping, who had two and Carrie Jickling and Catharine Burrell, who contributed one each. Penn State University was led by Darby Kern, who tallied one goal and one assist. Kern scored 7:37 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Penn State University. Riley OConnor picked up the assist. Taylor Nyman also scored for Penn State University. More assists for Penn State University came via Cara Mendelson and Devon Fisk, who each chipped in one. Chantal Lischynski made 16 saves for the Flames on 19 shots. Liberty University incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. The Nitty Lions incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
