The Essex 73s tried their best to erase a two-goal deficit, but the Amherstburg Admirals would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 2-1. A goal by Dan Matoski put Amherstburg up 2-0 in the third period, but Essex pulled to within one on Matthew Hebert's tally 3:55 into the third period. With the win, the Admirals evened the series at 1-1 in the best of seven showdown. The 73s were stymied by Amherstburg's netminder Arren Romeril, who stopped 32 shots during the victory. Romeril managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 3.07 prior to the game. The Admirals were led by Matoski, who registered one goal. Matoski scored 1:57 into the third period to make the score 2-0 Amherstburg. Curtis Prymack picked up the assist. Amherstburg put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Essex to score on any of its three power plays. Amherstburg also got a goal from Brett Beattie as well. More assists for Amherstburg came via Conor Rennie and Luke Gangnon, who each chipped in one. The 73s' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Amherstburg power plays. Essex's offense rang up 33 shots on the Admirals' net. In addition, Essex received assists from Tyler Turner, who had one. Amherstburg incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Noah Hedrick made 17 saves for the 73s on 19 shots. Essex incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
