Motor City Monarchs rides Demmers to victory over Detroit Fighting Irish, 4-1

Motor City Monarchs relied on the sparkling performance of Stephan Demmers in net to grab a 4-1 win against Detroit Fighting Irish.

The win by Motor City Monarchs clinched the best of three series at 2-1.

Motor City Monarchs was sparked by Zach Kopinski, who registered one goal. Kopinski scored 3:07 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Motor City Monarchs. Justin Session picked up the assist.

Motor City Monarchs forced Detroit Fighting Irish's goaltenders to work in net, ripping 51 shots and forcing 47 saves. Jacob Gorzelski made 26 stops and George Hill made 21. Motor City Monarchs put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Detroit Fighting Irish to score on any of its five power plays.

Motor City Monarchs also had goals scored by Bryce Peplinski, Jarrad Vroman, and Adam Jonak, who each put in one. In addition, Motor City Monarchs received assists from Derrick Treppa, who had two and Trevor Hillman, Joseph Gibbs, and Alex Anderson, who each chipped in one.

Motor City Monarchs' Demmers stopped 27 shots out of the 28 that he faced. Motor City Monarchs totaled 49 minutes in penalty time with 12 minors and one major and went 2-for-12 on the power play. Detroit Fighting Irish ended with 77 minutes in penalty time with 16 minors and one major.
