Huge game by Sevcik boosts Missoula Maulers over Southern Oregon Spartans, 8-4

Missoula Maulers' Sam Sevcik had a big offensive game, scoring two goals and contributing two assists in his team's 8-4 win over Southern Oregon Spartans.

Sevcik scored at 15:28 into the second period to make the score 5-1 Missoula Maulers and again while on the power play 19:25 into the second to make the score 6-1 Missoula Maulers.

With the win, Missoula Maulers avoided elimination to make the series score 1-1 in the best of three series.

Southern Oregon Spartans fell victim to a deadly Missoula Maulers power play, which ripped Southern Oregon Spartans for four goals.

Missoula Maulers forced Southern Oregon Spartans' goalies to work without much rest, taking 46 shots and forcing 38 saves. Reed Kinsey made 26 stops and Tymen Edelkoort III made 12. Missoula Maulers' defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in three goals.

Missoula Maulers also got points from Wyatt Mathews, who also racked up one goal and one assist, Joey Porco, who also had one goal and one assist, and Corey Schafer, who also racked up one goal and three assists to lead the team in points. Paige Maul also scored for Missoula Maulers. More assists for Missoula Maulers came via Sawyer Jacobson, who had three and Sander Mjolnerod, Tanner Todd, and Damon Hanson, who each chipped in one.

Southern Oregon Spartans forced Missoula Maulers goalie Noah Parker to work between the pipes, taking 41 shots.

Southern Oregon Spartans was led by Johan Lovestrom, who registered one goal and two assists. Lovestrom scored 13:59 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Southern Oregon Spartans. Drew Carriere picked up the assist. Southern Oregon Spartans additionally got points from Mackenzie Wood, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Southern Oregon Spartans included Doug Gutierrez and Brody Surette, who each put in one. In addition, Southern Oregon Spartans received assists from Nick Pagliacci, Tyler Spencer, and Billy Saxton, who contributed one each.

Missoula Maulers' Parker stopped 37 shots out of the 41 that he faced. Missoula Maulers ended with 17 minutes in penalty time with six minors and one major. Southern Oregon Spartans incurred 30 minutes in penalty time with 10 minors.
