Mackenzie Wood netted a hat trick to lead Southern Oregon Spartans over Missoula Maulers, 4-2. Wood notched his first tally 6:34 into the second period. He then added goals at 1:52 into the third and at 7:30 into the third.After the loss made the series score 1-0 in the best of three series, Missoula Maulers faces elimination next time out. Southern Oregon Spartans pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 14 penalty minutes. Southern Oregon Spartans' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on six Missoula Maulers power plays. Missoula Maulers was unable to stop Southern Oregon Spartans from sending pucks towards the net, and Southern Oregon Spartans eventually piled up 32 shots on goal. Southern Oregon Spartans also got a goal from Doug Gutierrez as well. More assists for Southern Oregon Spartans came via Anton Ivehed, Johan Lovestrom, and Billy Saxton, who each chipped in one. Missoula Maulers' offense rang up 51 shots on Southern Oregon Spartans' net. Missoula Maulers was helped by Tanner Todd, who grabbed one goal. Todd scored 48 seconds into the third period to make the score 2-1 Missoula Maulers. Chris Laporte also scored for Missoula Maulers. In addition, Missoula Maulers received assists from Dominic Rinaldi and Henrik Ekestahl, who contributed one each. Southern Oregon Spartans' Reed Kinsey stopped 49 shots out of the 51 that he faced. Southern Oregon Spartans registered one goal on four power play opportunities. Noah Parker made 28 saves for Missoula Maulers on 31 shots. Missoula Maulers ended with nine minutes in penalty time with two minors and one major.
