Huge game by Weber boosts Colorado Eagles over Cheyenne Stampede, 9-3

Colorado Eagles' Levi Weber had a big offensive game, scoring two goals and contributing three assists in his team's 9-3 win over Cheyenne Stampede.

Weber found the back of the net 5:02 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Colorado Eagles and again while 35 seconds into the second to make the score 4-0 Colorado Eagles.

After the loss made the series score 1-0 in the best of three series, Cheyenne Stampede faces elimination next time out.

Colorado Eagles forced Cheyenne Stampede's goalies to work all game long, launching 43 shots and forcing 34 saves. Egor Riabchikov made 24 stops and Corey Foster made 10. Colorado Eagles put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Cheyenne Stampede to score on any of its four power plays.

Colorado Eagles additionally got points from Riley Roberts, who also finished with two goals and two assists, Jackson Wallis, who also registered one goal and two assists, Scott Smoot, who also tallied one goal and two assists, and Nick Davidson, who also had one goal and four assists. Colorado Eagles also had goals scored by Tyrel Charlton and Tyler Weber, who each put in one. In addition, Colorado Eagles received assists from MacGregor Haddon, who had two and Brian Brink, Cade Warner, and David Barbour, who contributed one each.

Cheyenne Stampede was led by Cody Key, who finished with two goals. Key scored the first of his two goals at 11:59 into the second period to make the score 7-1 Colorado Eagles. Key's next tally made the score 8-3 Colorado Eagles with 22 seconds left in the second period. Michael Ballard picked up the assist. Ville Tikkanen also scored for Cheyenne Stampede. More assists for Cheyenne Stampede came via Craig Thurston and Max Legere, who each chipped in one.

Colorado Eagles' starting goalie, Quinn Wold, made 22 saves and finished with the win before he was taken out in favor of Brad Pershing, who stopped zero shots. Colorado Eagles incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Cheyenne Stampede incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
