Early goals doom Seattle Totems, falls to Southern Oregon Spartans, 9-1

Southern Oregon Spartans opened up a four-goal lead after the first period and did not look back en route to a 9-1 win over Seattle Totems.

The win by Southern Oregon Spartans clinched the best of three series at 2-0.

Southern Oregon Spartans was led by goalie Tymen Edelkoort III, who finished with 26 saves while allowing one goal. Despite the solid performance, Edelkoort III will actually see his goals against average rise, as it stood at 1.0 entering the contest.

Southern Oregon Spartans was sparked by Billy Saxton, who racked up one goal and one assist. Saxton scored on the power play 13:13 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Southern Oregon Spartans. A unsportsmanlike conduct penalty on Axel Martensson had put Southern Oregon Spartans on the power play. Johan Lovestrom provided the assist.

Southern Oregon Spartans kept Seattle Totems' goalie busy throughout the game, and Anton Vigre made 43 saves on 52 shots.

Southern Oregon Spartans additionally got points from Mackenzie Wood, who also tallied one goal and two assists, Doug Gutierrez, who also finished with two goals and three assists to lead the team in points, and Logan Myers, who also registered one goal and two assists. Others who scored for Southern Oregon Spartans included Nick Pagliacci, Tyler Spencer, Drew Carriere, and Marcus Miller, who scored one goal each. More assists for Southern Oregon Spartans came via Luke Fraser, who had two and RJ Haenze, Liam Finn, Jonathon Lovelace, Anton Ivehed, Brody Surette, and Cy Jenson, who contributed one each.

Seattle Totems also got a goal from Braden Stratton as well.

Southern Oregon Spartans totaled 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors and two majors and went 2-for-6 on the power play. Seattle Totems totaled 34 minutes in penalty time with seven minors and two majors and went 0-for-2 on the power play.
