Maillard's big game bests Las Vegas Storm in 9-3 Ontario Avalanche win

Antoine Maillard had two goals and one assist to lead Ontario Avalanche to a 9-3 victory over Las Vegas Storm.

Maillard found the back of the net 33 seconds into the first period to make the score 1-0 Ontario Avalanche and again while 13:23 into the second to make the score 8-2 Ontario Avalanche.

The win by Ontario Avalanche clinched the best of three series at 2-0.

Ontario Avalanche's penalty kill excelled, as Ontario Avalanche gave up one goal despite allowing six power plays.

Ontario Avalanche forced Las Vegas Storm's goaltenders to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, taking 54 shots and forcing 45 saves. Patrik Jokela made 13 stops and Jaedon McConnell made 32.

Ontario Avalanche also got points from Nick Anderson, who also finished with two goals and one assist, Michael Thomas, who also racked up one goal and two assists, Andrew Guzman, who also had one goal and one assist, and Zechariah Roberts, who also registered one goal and one assist. Thurel Kast also scored for Ontario Avalanche. In addition, Ontario Avalanche received assists from Marc Janisch, who had three, Tre Mason, Sebastian Keskitola, Jackson Giammona, Donovan Shambeau, and Coleton Dawson, who each chipped in one, and Paul Ramsey and Adam Plonski, who contributed two each.

Las Vegas Storm forced Ontario Avalanche goalie Daniel Cepila to work between the pipes, taking 32 shots.

Las Vegas Storm was led by Kyle Pacheco, who tallied two goals and one assist. Pacheco scored the first of his two goals at 10:34 into the first period to make the score 4-1 Ontario Avalanche. Moritz Matzka picked up the assist. Pacheco's next tally made the score 6-2 Ontario Avalanche with 12:19 left in the second period. Las Vegas Storm had gained a power play chance when Kast was whistled for checking from behind. Brandon Bavis assisted on the tally. Las Vegas Storm additionally got points from Bavis, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Las Vegas Storm were Philip Traxler, who had one and Nathan Fournier, who had two.

Cepila rejected 29 shots on goal for Ontario Avalanche. Ontario Avalanche incurred 26 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Las Vegas Storm incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
