Masek nets hat trick, leads San Diego to 6-2 win over Long Beach Bombers

Long Beach Bombers could not stop San Diego's Filip Masek, who tallied a hat trick in a 6-2 win.

Masek got on the scoresheet 13:28 into the first period. He then added goals at 9:19 into the second and at 17:35 into the second.

With the win, San Diego avoided elimination to make the series score 1-2 in the best of three series.

San Diego put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Long Beach Bombers to score on any of its five power plays.

Others who scored for San Diego included Cameron Todd, Sebastian Gruhler, and Tyler Kubara, who each put in one. More assists for San Diego came via Andrew Frojelin, who had one.

Long Beach Bombers forced San Diego goalie Jokaim Jutras to work between the pipes, taking 41 shots.

Long Beach Bombers was led by Johan Beatty, who tallied one goal. Beatty scored 8:29 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Long Beach Bombers. Reinis Vitolins picked up the assist. Tomas Nemeth also scored for Long Beach Bombers. In addition, Long Beach Bombers received assists from Parker Moskal, Anton Rhose, and Patrik Johansson, who contributed one each.

Jutras rejected 39 shots on goal for San Diego. San Diego totaled 27 minutes in penalty time with six minors and one major and went 2-for-2 on the power play. San Diego ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Brad Lemelin was ejected from the game. Dennis Tschudi recorded 22 saves for Long Beach Bombers. Long Beach Bombers ended with 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major.
