The Walkerton Hawks had trouble finding ways to stop the Wingham Ironmen, which beat Hawks, 7-1. With the win, Wingham evened the series at 1-1 in the best of seven showdown. The Ironmen got the win on the strength of a great game by Justin Jacklin, who had two goals and one assist. Jacklin scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 7:10 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Wingham. A cross checking penalty on Mitch Borden had put Wingham on the power play. Greg Hansford picked up the assist. Jacklin's next tally on the power play made the score 4-1 Wingham with 16:22 left in the third period. The Ironmen had gotten the advantage when Walkerton's Borden was sent off for hooking. Brett Brophy assisted on the tally. The Hawks were stymied by Wingham's netminder Ben Nelson, who stopped 29 shots during the victory. Nelson managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 1.61 prior to the game. The Ironmen forced Walkerton's goaltenders to work in net, taking 40 shots and forcing 33 saves. Erik Angeli made 26 stops and Tristan Lewis made seven. Wingham was effective with a man advantage, and put in five goals while on the power play. The Ironmen got an offensive boost from their blueliners, who contributed three goals during the game. Wingham also got points from Brophy, who also registered three goals and three assists to lead the team in points. Others who scored for Wingham included Owen Bender(AP) and Ryan McNeil, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Wingham were Alex Kuntz, who had three and Bailey Poels, Greg Scott, and Broedy Karelse, who each chipped in one. The Hawks were led by Brett Coulson, who scored the team's only goal. Coulson scored on the power play 12:32 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Wingham. Walkerton earned a power play opportunity when Keifer MacInnes was put in the box for tripping. Reid Simmons picked up the assist. Wingham ended with 55 minutes in penalty time with 10 minors and one major. The Ironmen ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Karelse was ejected from the game. The Hawks totaled 54 minutes in penalty time with 12 minors and two majors and went 1-for-5 on the power play. For Walkerton, Borden and Chris Gillman were ejected from the contest.
