Currie stymies Dundas, Grimsby wins 3-1

A stellar performance between the pipes by Jeremy Currie helped the Grimsby Peach Kings defeat the Dundas Blues, 3-1.

With the win, Grimsby evened the series at 1-1 in the best of seven showdown.

The Peach Kings' penalty kill excelled, as Grimsby gave up zero goals despite allowing six power plays.

The Peach Kings were led by Griffin Roubos, who tallied one goal. Roubos scored 12:35 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Grimsby. Brennan Smith assisted on the tally.

Grimsby stifled Dundas' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

Grimsby also had goals scored by Joshua Kozielski and Garnet McComber, who scored one goal each. More assists for Grimsby came via Curtis Conrad, who had two and Nicholas Purves and Malcolm Lynett, who each chipped in one.

The Peach Kings were unable to stop the Blues from sending pucks towards the net, and Dundas eventually piled up 39 shots on goal.

The Blues were led by Matt Johnson, who scored the team's only goal. Johnson scored 3:57 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Dundas. Dan Pelosini picked up the assist.

Currie recorded 38 saves for Grimsby. The Peach Kings incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Brock Novak rejected 27 shots on goal for Dundas. The Blues incurred 32 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Dundas ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Thomas Dowling was ejected from the game.
