Dundas wins tough contest against Grimsby, 4-3Peach King Arena Sun, Mar 01, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
The Dundas Blues gutted out a close 4-3 win against the Grimsby Peach Kings. Dundas gained the winning advantage on a goal by Kevin Jaczenko 19:15 into the third period and hung on until final buzzer. The win gave the Blues a 1-0 lead in the best of seven series. Jaczenko was all over the ice for Dundas, as he registered two goals in the win. Dundas additionally got points from Joey Sullivan, who also finished with two goals and two assists to lead the team in points. In addition, Dundas received assists from Zac Mihalis, who had one and Thomas Dowling and Matt Johnson, who contributed two each. Grimsby forced the Blues' goalies to work between the pipes, finishing with 45 shots and forcing 42 saves. Brock Novak made 32 stops and Dan Davies made 10. The Peach Kings had trouble converting on the power play advantage, managing just two goals on nine chances. Grimsby was helped by Nicholas Purves, who grabbed one goal. Purves scored on the power play 13:07 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Grimsby. The Peach Kings had gotten the advantage when Dundas' Matt Scanlin was sent off for hooking. Matthew Jambrosich assisted on the tally. Grimsby also got points from Jambrosich, who also racked up one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Andrew McMurtrie also scored for Grimsby. More assists for Grimsby came via Dillon Cipretti, Aidan McCreadie, Jeromy Hopkins, Curtis Jacques, and Brennan Smith, who each chipped in one. The Blues incurred 26 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Marcus Hlywka rejected 21 shots on goal for Grimsby. The Peach Kings incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors.
