Michigan University of's comeback falls short, Miami University wins 3-1

The Miami University RedHawks, who led by three goals at one point, survived a comeback attempt by the Michigan University of Wolverines and clinched a 3-1 victory.

Miami University led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when the RedHawks' Carly Noble scored at 12:41 in the first period to put Miami University up 3-0.

The RedHawks were led by goalie Emalee Wills, who finished with 26 saves while allowing one goal. Despite the solid performance, Wills will actually see his goals against average rise, as it stood at 1.0 entering the contest.

Michigan University of's power play was ineffective against Miami University's penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded.

The RedHawks stifled the Wolverines' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

Miami University was helped by Hayley Williams, who tallied one goal. Williams scored 2:16 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Miami University. Kaley Mooney assisted on the tally. Miami University also got a goal from Morgan Mcgrath as well. More assists for Miami University came via Rachael Booth, Kathleen Baldwin, and Izzy Smith, who contributed one each.

Michigan University of was led by Camilla Vercollone, who scored the team's only goal. Vercollone scored 5:35 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Miami University.

The RedHawks incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Kelsey Duggan recorded 15 saves for the Wolverines. Michigan University of incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
