M3-Colorado State University beats M3-Pitts-Johnstown University 5-2 as Christofferson gets hat trick

Jacob Christofferson lifted M3-Colorado State University to a 5-2 victory with a hat trick against M3-Pitts-Johnstown University.

Christofferson's first goal came 10:27 into the first period. He then added goals at 10:50 into the second and at 13:04 into the third.

Twenty-nine of M3-Colorado State University's 44 shots were taken by Marcus Harbison, who managed zero goals. M3-Colorado State University excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. M3-Colorado State University could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 24 minutes in penalties during the game.

M3-Colorado State University also had goals scored by Nathan Morris and Michael Kamnikar, who scored one goal each. In addition, M3-Colorado State University received assists from Ryan Fretwell, Jock Purchase, and Christopher Maceau, who each chipped in one.

Tyler Mains was the focal point of M3-Pitts-Johnstown University's attack, as he took and 14 out of his team's 23 shots. M3-Pitts-Johnstown University's penalty kill unit could not stop M3-Colorado State University's power play, which converted on two of three opportunities.

M3-Pitts-Johnstown University was led by Marc Swankler, who had two goals. Swankler scored the first of his two goals at 1:37 into the second period to make the score 3-1 M3-Colorado State University. Swankler's next tally made the score 3-2 M3-Colorado State University with 15:21 left in the second period. Cody Austad provided the assist.

Harbison recorded 21 saves for M3-Colorado State University. M3-Pitts-Johnstown University's Mains stopped 39 shots out of the 44 that he faced. M3-Pitts-Johnstown University incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
