Uxbridge falls to Clarington in overtime, 2-1 (OT)

The Clarington Eagles pulled out a 2-1 (OT) overtime victory over the Uxbridge Bruins on a clutch goal by Brent Hambly.

The win gave Clarington a 1-0 lead in the best of seven series.

Uxbridge was stymied by the Eagles' netminder Connor Visca, who stopped 45 shots during the victory. Visca certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 1.22 entering the contest.

Clarington was paced by Hambly, who finished with one goal. Hambly scored 10:39 into to make the score 2-1 Clarington.

The Eagles stifled the Bruins' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Uxbridge was unable to stop Clarington from sending pucks towards the net, and the Eagles eventually piled up 51 shots on goal.

Clarington also got a goal from Jarod Hollister as well. In addition, Clarington received assists from Jake Carter and Brad Down, who each chipped in one.

The Bruins put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Clarington to score on any of its three power plays. Uxbridge's offense rang up 46 shots on the Eagles' net.

The Bruins were led by Shane Smith, who scored the team's only goal. Smith scored 5:10 into the third period to make the score 1-1. Todd Winder picked up the assist.

Clarington incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Brandon Francey recorded 49 saves for Uxbridge. The Bruins incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
