Early goals doom M1 Villanova University, falls to M1 Davenport University, 11-2

The M1 Davenport University Panthers opened up a six-goal lead after the first period and did not look back en route to an 11-2 win over the M1 Villanova University Wildcats.

M1 Davenport University got the win with help from a great game by Cameron Dimmitt, who had four goals and two assists. Dimmitt got on the scoresheet 6:54 into the first period. He then added goals at 19:24 into the first, at 2:44 into the third, and at 9:12 into the third.

M1 Villanova University was doomed by its poor performance on special teams, as the Panthers were able to score four times while on the power play.

M1 Davenport University outdid its season average for goals scored. This season, the Panthers average 7.5 goals per contest. M1 Davenport University could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 16 minutes in penalties during the game. With 56 shots on target during the contest, the Panthers exceeded the 7.5 shots they average per game this year.

M1 Davenport University additionally got points from Luke Mccarthy, who also registered two goals and two assists, Kody Polin, who also finished with one goal and one assist, and Mason Bohlinger, who also tallied one goal and three assists. M1 Davenport University also got a goal from Travis White as well. Other players who recorded assists for M1 Davenport University were Zack Blumke, Michael Gessler, Joshua Munford, and Cody Mathieu, who each chipped in one, Stephen Flood and Winston Hofer, who contributed two each, and Cody Walsh and Everett Thompson, who each chipped in three.

The Wildcats put 26 shots on net during the contest, more than the 2.0 they average per game. M1 Villanova University was forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as it racked up 18 penalty minutes.

The Wildcats were led by Nicholas Abel, who had one goal. Abel scored 9:12 into the first period to make the score 2-1 M1 Davenport University. Harry Moore picked up the assist. Daniel Jigarjian also scored for M1 Villanova University. In addition, M1 Villanova University received assists from Doug Geertz and Myles Mitchell, who contributed one each.

Matt Kaludis recorded 24 saves for M1 Davenport University. M1 Villanova University's starting goalie, Michael Harper, made 35 saves and finished with the loss before he was taken out in favor of Nicholas Desimone, who stopped 10 shots. The Wildcats registered one goal on seven power play opportunities.
