WHITBY survived a determined comeback attempt by BURLINGTON on the way to a 3-2 win. WHITBY made the score 3-1 on a goal by Jaimie Grigsby at 13:57 in the third period, and BURLINGTON got as close as 3-2 when Jessica Desautels scored 15:27 into the third period. The win gave WHITBY a 1-0 lead in the best of five series. In a losing effort, BURLINGTON was led by Desautels, who racked up two goals. Desautels scored the first of her two goals at 5:58 into the third period to make the score 2-1 WHITBY. Rachel Armstrong picked up the assist. Desautels' next tally made the score 3-2 WHITBY with 4:33 left in the third period. Armstrong provided the assist. WHITBY put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow BURLINGTON to score on any of its three power plays. BURLINGTON was unable to stop WHITBY from sending pucks towards the net, and WHITBY eventually piled up 35 shots on goal. Others who scored for WHITBY included Hailey Wilson and Katelyn Rae, who scored one goal each. More assists for WHITBY came via Emily Volpe, who had two and Avery Mitchell and Cassidy Vinkle(A), who each chipped in one. BURLINGTON stifled WHITBY's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Emma Schram recorded 13 saves for WHITBY. WHITBY incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Kyra OBrien made 32 saves for BURLINGTON on 35 shots. BURLINGTON incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
