Stratford outlasts Cambridge, 6-4

The Stratford Cullitons gutted out a close 6-4 win against the Cambridge Winter Hawks.

No lead was more than two goals during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Shane O Brien at 13:44 of the third period.

The win by Stratford clinched the best of seven series at 4-1.

O Brien was all over the ice for the Cullitons, as he registered two goals in the win.

Stratford's offense rang up 35 shots on Cambridge's net.

Stratford additionally got points from Trevor Sauder, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Tyson Baker, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Stratford included Deven Kropf and Mitch Brooks, who scored one goal each. In addition, Stratford received assists from Jake Pleon, who had two and Joe Leahy, Hayden Broomhead, Jeff McArdle, and Justin Graham, who each chipped in one.

The Winter Hawks kept the Cullitons' goalie busy throughout the game, and Nicholas Caldwell made 37 saves on 41 shots.

Cambridge was led by Phil Caputo, who had one goal and one assist. Caputo scored on the power play 3:13 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Cambridge. The Winter Hawks earned a power play opportunity when McArdle was put in the box for holding. Kyle Liu provided the assist. Cambridge also got points from Zack Magwood, who also registered one goal and one assist. Cambridge also had goals scored by Jordan Chard and Maxime Lamontagne, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Cambridge were Zack Hedley, who had one.

Stratford incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Lucas Machalski recorded 29 saves for Cambridge. The Winter Hawks incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
