Strathroy falls to LaSalle in overtime, 5-4 (OT)

The LaSalle Vipers' Korey Morgan scored 48 seconds into overtime to beat the Strathroy Rockets, 5-4 (OT).

After the loss made the series score 3-0 in the best of seven series, Strathroy faces elimination next time out.

LaSalle overcame a three-goal deficit to capture the victory. The Vipers trailed 3-0 after a goal by the Rockets' Brett Dalton at 18:39 in the first period. LaSalle tied things up at 4-4 on a power play goal by Brett Primeau at 6:25 in the third period.

Mark Manchurek had two goals to lead the Vipers to victory. Manchurek scored at 5:27 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Strathroy and again while 13:09 into the second to make the score 3-2 Strathroy.

LaSalle kept Strathroy's goalie busy throughout the game, and Mat Ouellet made 39 saves on 44 shots.

LaSalle additionally got points from Morgan, who also had one goal and two assists and Nathan Savage, who also registered one goal and one assist. More assists for LaSalle came via Brendan Harrogate, who had three and Nicolas Crescenzi, Chris Pignanelli, and Manny Silverio, who each chipped in one.

The Rockets forced the Vipers goalie Paolo Battisti to work between the pipes, taking 38 shots.

Strathroy was helped by Dan Chapman, who finished with one goal. Chapman scored on the power play 4:34 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Strathroy. The Rockets had gained a power play chance when Daniel Beaudoin was whistled for checking from behind. Nick Griffin picked up the assist. Strathroy also got points from Nick Boyer, who also tallied one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Joey Seney also scored for Strathroy. In addition, Strathroy received assists from Kurtis Sander, Stuart King, Sam Vokes, and Ocean Check, who contributed one each.

Battisti recorded 34 saves for LaSalle. The Vipers incurred 30 minutes in penalty time with 10 minors. For LaSalle, Tyler Russell and Beaudoin were ejected from the contest. Strathroy incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors. For the Rockets, Andrew Martin was ejected from the game.
