Strathroy falls to LaSalle in overtime, 4-3 (OT)

The LaSalle Vipers' Graham Pickard scored 12:53 into overtime to beat the Strathroy Rockets, 4-3 (OT).

The win gave LaSalle a 1-0 lead in the best of seven series.

The Vipers were led by Pickard, who grabbed one goal.

In the losing effort, Strathroy was paced by Stuart King, who registered two goals. King scored the first of his two goals at 1:09 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Joey Seney provided the assist. King's next tally made the score 2-1 Strathroy with 13:13 left in the second period. Seney picked up the assist.

LaSalle stifled the Rockets' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Vipers kept Strathroy's goalie busy throughout the game, and Mat Ouellet made 40 saves on 44 shots.

LaSalle also got points from Tyler Russell, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Manny Silverio, who also had one goal and one assist. Nathan Savage also scored for LaSalle. In addition, LaSalle received assists from Nick Gauvin, who had two and Brett Langlois, Mark Manchurek, Brendan Harrogate, and Brett Primeau, who each chipped in one.

The Rockets excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. Strathroy forced LaSalle goalie Paolo Battisti to work between the pipes, taking 44 shots.

Strathroy also got a goal from Sam Vokes as well. More assists for Strathroy came via Mark MacAulay, who had one.

Paolo Battisti made 41 saves for the Vipers on 44 shots. LaSalle incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. The Rockets incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
