Tugwell stymies Chatham, London wins 4-1

A stellar performance between the pipes by Justin Tugwell helped the London Nationals defeat the Chatham Maroons, 4-1.

After the loss made the series score 3-0 in the best of seven series, Chatham faces elimination next time out.

The Maroons' power play was ineffective against London's penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded.

The Nationals were paced by Kevin Madden, who had one goal. Madden scored 2:50 into the third period to make the score 2-1 London.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 6:20 into the second period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.

London excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in seven chances.

London additionally got points from Drew Worrad, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Others who scored for London included Kyle L Robinson and Rai Di Loreto, who scored one goal each. In addition, London received assists from Matt Macpherson and Derek Todosichuk, who contributed one each.

The Nationals were unable to stop Chatham from sending pucks towards the net, and the Maroons eventually piled up 40 shots on goal.

Chatham was led by Mark Fratarcangelli, who scored the team's only goal. Fratarcangelli scored 9:57 into the first period to make the score 1-1.

Justin Tugwell made 39 saves for London on 40 shots. The Nationals totaled 31 minutes in penalty time with eight minors and one major and went 1-for-7 on the power play. London ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Michael Woolley was ejected from the game. The Maroons' Jake Patterson stopped 22 shots out of the 25 that he faced. Chatham ended with 21 minutes in penalty time with eight minors and one major. For the Maroons, Brayden Hopkins was ejected from the game.
