St. Thomas downs Sarnia in overtime, 5-4 (OT)

Carson Brookshaw gave the St. Thomas Stars a 5-4 (OT) victory over the Sarnia Legionnaires when he scored 18:38 into the extra period.

The win by St. Thomas broke a deadlock and gave the Stars a 2-1 advantage in the best of seven series.

Although St. Thomas was up by as many as two goals in the third period, Sarnia kept the game interesting by staging a comeback that ultimately fell short. The Legionnaires pulled to within 4-3 on a power play goal by Davis Boyer at 9:27 in the third period.

Brookshaw had two goals to lead the Stars to victory.

St. Thomas' offense rang up 42 shots on Sarnia's net.

St. Thomas also got points from Andrew Chambers, who also finished with one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. St. Thomas also had goals scored by Carson Moniz and Jordan Babb, who scored one goal each. More assists for St. Thomas came via Matt McJannet, who had three and Spencer Hutchinson, Brett Van Dusen, Adam Truax, Dane Johnstone, and Jesse Anderson, who each chipped in one.

The Legionnaires kept the Stars' goalie busy throughout the game, and Brendan Polasek made 50 saves on 54 shots.

Sarnia additionally got points from Cody Trowell, who also finished with one goal and two assists. Other players who recorded assists for Sarnia were Mitch Read, who had one and Ryan Trottier, who had four.

St. Thomas incurred 40 minutes in penalty time with 10 minors. Andrew Masters rejected 37 shots on goal for Sarnia. The Legionnaires incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors.
