Leamington blows out Lambton Shores, 5-0

The Leamington Flyers were firing on all cylinders against the Lambton Shores Predators, and when the final buzzer sounded Flyers emerged with a 5-0 win.

After the loss made the series score 3-0 in the best of seven series, Lambton Shores faces elimination next time out.

Alex Friesen was all over the ice for Leamington, as he tallied one goal and two assists in the win. Friesen scored 19:24 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Leamington. Mitchell Amante picked up the assist.

The Flyers' penalty kill excelled, as Leamington gave up zero goals despite allowing eight power plays.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 2:50 into the third period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with six game misconducts.

The Flyers stifled the Predators' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Leamington's offense rang up 38 shots on Lambton Shores' net. The Flyers' defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals.

Leamington also got points from Ryan Muzzin, who also had one goal and two assists. Leamington also had goals scored by Ryan Shipley, Joe Ogden, and Kyle Quick, who scored one goal each. In addition, Leamington received assists from J.P. Grineau, Tyler Duarte, Eric Henderson, and Chris Scott, who each chipped in one.

Trevor Wheaton made 24 saves for Leamington on 24 shots. The Flyers totaled 61 minutes in penalty time with 13 minors and five majors and went 3-for-10 on the power play. Team's Jacob McGhee, Shipley, Amante, Scott, and Zak Parlette were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game. Anthony Hurtubise rejected 33 shots on goal for the Predators. Lambton Shores ended with 74 minutes in penalty time with 12 minors and six majors. For the Predators, Calvin Hughson, Austin Fetterly, Ethan Sarfati, Brent Hammett, Gino Mini, and Brenden Trottier were ejected from the contest.
