Leamington rolls over Lambton Shores, 6-1

The Leamington Flyers were firing on all cylinders against the Lambton Shores Predators, and when the final buzzer sounded Flyers emerged with a 6-1 win.

The win gave Leamington a 2-0 lead in the best of seven series.

The Flyers were led by goalie Michael Barrett, who finished with 25 saves while allowing one goal. Despite the solid performance, Barrett will actually see his goals against average rise, as it stood at 1.0 entering the contest.

Leamington pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 22 penalty minutes.

The Flyers' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on eight Lambton Shores power plays. Lambton Shores was unable to stop Leamington from sending pucks towards the net, and the Flyers eventually piled up 34 shots on goal.

Leamington was helped by Joe Ogden, who registered one goal. Ogden scored 6:37 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Leamington. Kyle Perkowski assisted on the tally. Leamington also got points from Eric Henderson, who also finished with one goal and two assists to lead the team in points and Kyle Quick, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Leamington included Colin Moore, Mitchell Amante, and Chris Scott, who scored one goal each. More assists for Leamington came via J.P. Grineau, Tyler Duarte, Matthew Opblinger, Alex Friesen, Thomas Virban, and Travis Campbell, who each chipped in one.

The Flyers registered three goals on six power play opportunities. The Predators' Andrew Harriman-Duke stopped 28 shots out of the 34 that he faced. Lambton Shores incurred 28 minutes in penalty time with nine minors. For the Predators, Drew Marlatt was ejected from the game.
