LEASIDE uses early goal to top MISSISSAUGA, 3-1

Katie Strain scored the go-ahead goal in the first period, and LEASIDE held off the challenges of MISSISSAUGA in a tough 3-1 win.

A goal 14:34 into the first period by Strain proved to be the game winner, and powered LEASIDE to the victory. Jessica Robichaud (A) picked up the assist.

With the win, LEASIDE avoided elimination to make the series score 2-1 in the best of five series.

LEASIDE's Hailey Farrelly was a brick wall in net, as she came up with 37 saves and let only one puck past her. Farrelly certainly lowered her goals against average, which was 1.82 entering the contest.

LEASIDE was paced by Strain, who racked up one goal.

LEASIDE stifled MISSISSAUGA's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

LEASIDE also had goals scored by Kaelyn Johnson and Cynthia Cavanagh, who scored one goal each. More assists for LEASIDE came via Gabriella Lamanna(C), who had two and Mariah Hinds and Katriona McNeilly, who each chipped in one.

MISSISSAUGA forced LEASIDE goalie Farrelly to work between the pipes, taking 38 shots.

MISSISSAUGA was led by Lindsay Agnew, who scored the team's only goal. Agnew scored 8:49 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Stephanie Sucharda (A) provided the assist.

LEASIDE incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Lin Han rejected 18 shots on goal for MISSISSAUGA. MISSISSAUGA incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
