Brantford downs Stoney Creek in overtime, 5-4 (OT)Gateway Ice Centre Sun, Mar 08, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
The Brantford Blast pulled out a 5-4 (OT) overtime victory over the Stoney Creek Generals on a clutch goal by Derek Medeiros. After the loss made the series score 3-1 in the best of seven series, Stoney Creek faces elimination next time out. Medeiros had four goals to lead Brantford to victory. Medeiros notched his first tally 9:08 into the first period. He then added goals at 16:29 into the first, at 18:31 into the first, and at 2:48 into the fourth. Chris Rebernik also scored for Brantford. More assists for Brantford came via Mike Burgoyne, who had two, Joel Prpic, who had three, and Cam Sault, Mark Taylor, and Kevin Christmas, who each chipped in one. The Generals put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Blast to score on any of their five power plays. Stoney Creek kept Brantford's goalie busy throughout the game, and Brett Leggat made 34 saves on 38 shots. The Generals were helped by Tony Iaquinto, who racked up one goal. Iaquinto scored zero seconds into the third period to make the score 4-3 Stoney Creek. Sean Blanchard picked up the assist. Stoney Creek also got points from Dylan Gilbert, who also registered one goal and one assist. Stoney Creek also had goals scored by Matthew Reynolds and Mike Ruberto, who each put in one. In addition, Stoney Creek received assists from Ryan Healy, who had two and Matt Smith, Nathan Pageau, and Dennis Maxwell, who contributed one each. The Blast incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Daniel Svedin took the otl and made 14 saves before being replaced by Dan Earles who made five saves. Stoney Creek incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
