Brantford downs Stoney Creek, 10-5

The Brantford Blast beat the Stoney Creek Generals, 10-5.

The win by Brantford broke a deadlock and gave the Blast a 2-1 advantage in the best of seven series.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 7:35 into the second period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.

Brantford forced Generals' goaltenders to work without much rest, racking up 34 shots and forcing 24 saves. Daniel Svedin made three stops and Dan Earles made 21. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals.

The Blast were helped by Mark Taylor, who registered two goals. Taylor scored the first of his two goals at 3:39 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Jeff Caister picked up the assist. Taylor's next tally made the score 6-1 Brantford with 19:47 left in the second period. Joel Prpic provided the assist. Brantford also got points from Cam Sault, who also grabbed one goal and two assists, Jason Hill, who also racked up one goal and one assist, Kyle Montpetit, who also tallied two goals and one assist, Andrew Marcoux, who also registered one goal and one assist, Prpic, who also had one goal and two assists, and Chris Leveille, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Brantford also got a goal from Brad Jones as well. In addition, Brantford received assists from Dave Russell, Derek Medeiros, Connor Robinson, Jamie Williams, and Ryan McCarthy, who contributed one each and Chris Rebernik and Dustin Alcock, who each chipped in three.

Brantford was unable to stop Stoney Creek from sending pucks towards the net, and the Generals eventually piled up 31 shots on goal.

Stoney Creek was helped by Nathan Pageau, who grabbed three goals. Stoney Creek additionally got points from Matt Smith, who also tallied two goals and one assist. More assists for Stoney Creek came via Nikola Bibic, Ryan Healy, Sean Blanchard, Jeff Leaist, and Mike Ruberto, who contributed one each and Matthew Reynolds and Kyle Zettler, who each chipped in two.

Brett Leggat rejected 26 shots on goal for the Blast. Brantford totaled nine minutes in penalty time with two minors and one major and went 1-for-6 on the power play. The Blast ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Jones was ejected from the game. The Generals totaled 25 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 1-for-2 on the power play. For Stoney Creek, Dylan Gilbert was ejected from the game.
