Brantford downs Stoney Creek, 5-2

Chris Leveille had one point to lead the Brantford Blast to a 5-2 victory over the Stoney Creek Generals.

The win gave Brantford a 1-0 lead in the best of seven series.

The Blast kept Stoney Creek's goalie busy throughout the game, and Daniel Svedin made 31 saves on 36 shots.

Brantford additionally got points from Derek Medeiros, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Dustin Alcock, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Brantford included Joel Prpic and Jamie Williams, who each put in one. More assists for Brantford came via Andrew Marcoux, who had one, Dave Russell, who had two, and Mike Burgoyne, who had four.

Brantford was unable to stop the Generals from sending pucks towards the net, and Stoney Creek eventually piled up 48 shots on goal.

The Generals were helped by Chris Knighton, who registered one goal. Knighton scored on the power play 10:15 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Stoney Creek. Stoney Creek had gotten the advantage when the Blast's Brad Jones was sent off for cross checking. Nikola Bibic picked up the assist. Matthew Reynolds also scored for Stoney Creek.

Anthony Marshall rejected 46 shots on goal for Brantford. The Blast incurred 28 minutes in penalty time with nine minors. The Generals incurred 36 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
