Fort Erie falls to Welland in overtime, 3-2 (OT)

The Welland Jr. Canadians' Dakota Miskolczi scored 3:44 into overtime to beat the Fort Erie Meteors, 3-2 (OT).

After the loss made the series score 3-1 in the best of seven series, Fort Erie faces elimination next time out.

Welland came back from a one-goal deficit to capture the victory. The Jr. Canadians trailed 2-1 after a power play goal by the Meteors' Miskolczi at 3:48 in the second period. Welland knotted things up at 3-3 on a power play goal by Jake Shaw at 3:20 in the fifth period.

Shaw had two goals to lead the Jr. Canadians to victory.

Welland forced Fort Erie goalie Liam Conway to work between the pipes, taking 49 shots.

Brayden Stortz also scored for Welland. In addition, Welland received assists from Kris Melna and Tyler Stranges, who contributed one each and Nathan MacDuff and JC Thivierge, who each chipped in two.

The Meteors forced the Jr. Canadians' goaltenders to work in net, taking 45 shots and forcing 43 saves. Chris Janzen made 11 stops and Hunter Johnson made 32.

Fort Erie also got a goal from Wade Kenny as well. Other players who recorded assists for Fort Erie were Bryce Martin, Anthony Passero, Holden Garlent, and Jared Marino, who contributed one each.

Welland incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Liam Conway made 46 saves for Fort Erie on 49 shots. The Meteors incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
