St. Catharines rolls over Thorold, 5-1

The Thorold Blackhawks had trouble finding ways to stop the St. Catharines Falcons, which beat Blackhawks, 5-1.

After the loss made the series score 3-0 in the best of seven series, Thorold faces elimination next time out.

The Blackhawks' power play was ineffective against St. Catharines' penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded.

The Falcons were paced by Tyler Hildebrant, who finished with one goal. Hildebrant scored on the power play 16:59 into the first period to make the score 2-0 St. Catharines. St. Catharines had gained a power play chance when Quinn Geddes was whistled for high sticking. Connor Timmins provided the assist.

Thorold was unable to stop the Falcons from sending pucks towards the net, and St. Catharines eventually piled up 41 shots on goal. The Falcons got an offensive boost from their blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game.

St. Catharines additionally got points from Timmins, who also registered one goal and one assist, Brandon Cercone, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, and Manny Manns, who also had one goal and one assist. Cam Blakely also scored for St. Catharines. More assists for St. Catharines came via Justin Felker, Broderick Kelly, and Scott Grieve AP, who contributed one each and Tyler Morrison and Jake Evans, who each chipped in two.

Ben Csiernik recorded 24 saves for St. Catharines. The Falcons incurred 30 minutes in penalty time with 10 minors. The Blackhawks' Josh Astorino stopped 36 shots out of the 40 that he faced. Thorold incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
