Dundas downs Whitby in overtime, 6-5 (OT)JL Grightmire Arena Fri, Feb 27, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
The Dundas Real McCoys' Cam Watson scored 1:24 into overtime to beat the Whitby Dunlops, 6-5 (OT). The win gave Dundas a 2-0 lead in the best of seven series. In a losing effort, Whitby was paced by Adam Van Dam, who registered two goals and one assist. Van Dam scored the first of his two goals at 6:25 into the third period to make the score 4-4. Kyle Musselman picked up the assist. Van Dam's next tally made the score 5-4 Whitby with 11:48 left in the third period. Musselman provided the assist. The Real McCoys stifled the Dunlops' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Dundas kept Whitby's goalie busy throughout the game, and Jason Guy made 29 saves on 35 shots. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals. Dundas additionally got points from Ryan Moore, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Chris McGuffin, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Dundas included Simon Mangos, Derek Matheson, and Dan Lapointe, who each put in one. More assists for Dundas came via Shawn Snider, who had two and Jordan Foreman, Curtis Campbell, Greg Stewart, Beni Berisha, and Brett Smith, who contributed one each. The Dunlops forced the Real McCoys goalie Mike Mole to work between the pipes, taking 39 shots. Whitby also got points from Matthew Baxter, who also had one goal and two assists and Musselman, who also registered one goal and three assists to lead the team in points. Brett McConnachie also scored for Whitby. Other players who recorded assists for Whitby were Chris Eade and Scott Freeman, who each chipped in two. Dundas' Mole stopped 34 shots out of the 39 that he faced. The Real McCoys incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Whitby incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
