M1 Stony Brook University beats M1 Lebanon Valley College 6-3 as Brewster gets hat trick

A hat trick by Sam Brewster was the highlight in Seawolves' 6-3 win against the M1 Lebanon Valley College Flying Dutchmen.

Brewster's first goal came 18:23 into the second period. He then added goals at 14:46 into the third and at 19:36 into the third.

The M1 Stony Brook University Seawolves pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 22 penalty minutes.

M1 Stony Brook University's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on six M1 Lebanon Valley College power plays. With 49 shots on target during the contest, the Seawolves exceeded the 5.0 shots they average per game this year.

M1 Stony Brook University additionally got points from Ryan Cotcamp, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Others who scored for M1 Stony Brook University included Nick Barbera and Frank Sherding, who each put in one. In addition, M1 Stony Brook University received assists from Chris Joseph, who had two, Kevin Barry and Michael Cartwright, who contributed one each, and JT Hall and Vincent Lopes, who each chipped in three.

M1 Lebanon Valley College excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. By firing 36 shots on goal, the Flying Dutchmen exceeded the 20.1 shots they average per game this year.

M1 Lebanon Valley College was led by Andy Thurby, who grabbed two goals. Thurby scored the first of his two goals at 28 seconds into the first period to make the score 1-0 M1 Lebanon Valley College. Thurby's next tally made the score 5-3 M1 Stony Brook University with 54 seconds left in the third period. Joey Labonte picked up the assist. M1 Lebanon Valley College also got a goal from Ryan Maraldo as well. Other players who recorded assists for M1 Lebanon Valley College were Paul Hefferin, who had one.

Brendan Jones recorded 33 saves for M1 Stony Brook University. Chase Wilson made 43 saves for the Flying Dutchmen on 49 shots. M1 Lebanon Valley College incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
