M1 Drexel University survives M1 Naval Academy / United States comeback, wins 3-2

The M1 Naval Academy / United States Midshipmen tried to dig themselves out of a two-goal hole, but the M1 Drexel University Dragons held on for a 3-2 victory.

A goal by Ryan Beneduce put M1 Drexel University up 3-1 in the second period, but M1 Naval Academy / United States pulled to within one on Luke Stanley's tally 5:55 into the third period.

The Dragons were paced by Beneduce, who had one goal. Beneduce scored 14:25 into the second period to make the score 3-1 M1 Drexel University. Tyler Woyshner provided the assist.

M1 Drexel University put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Midshipmen to score on any of their five power plays. The Dragons' offense was clicking better than usual and put 36 shots on goal during the game, better than the 1.1 shot per game they average.

M1 Drexel University additionally got points from Ryan Williams, who also grabbed one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Jim Mikalic also scored for M1 Drexel University. More assists for M1 Drexel University came via John Quigley, Christopher Rodrigue, Maxwell Stetson, and Zach Paro, who each chipped in one.

M1 Naval Academy / United States racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with eight minors and one major for 51 minutes in penalty time. The Midshipmen surpassed its season average of 19.0 penalty minutes per game. M1 Naval Academy / United States' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on nine M1 Drexel University power plays. The 38 shots that the Midshipmen put on net surpassed M1 Naval Academy / United States' average of 3.2 shots per game this season.

M1 Naval Academy / United States also got points from Jack Ohear, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. In addition, M1 Naval Academy / United States received assists from Karl Huey and Christopher Day, who contributed one each.

M1 Drexel University's Zachary Kantner stopped 36 shots out of the 38 that he faced. The Dragons incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Matt Truninger recorded 33 saves for the Midshipmen.
