New Hampshire hangs on, beats Jersey Shore 3-1

New Hampshire took the lead against Jersey Shore in the first period and maintained it until the end of the game to secure a tight 3-1 victory.

A goal 18:09 into the first period by Brett Bittner proved to be the game winner, and powered New Hampshire to the victory. Mike Callaghan picked up the assist.

With the win, New Hampshire avoided elimination to make the series score 1-1 in the best of three series.

New Hampshire got the win with help from a great game by Alex Peddle, who had two goals and one assist. Peddle scored the first of his two goals short handed at 16:26 into the second period to make the score 2-0 New Hampshire. New Hampshire played down a man on Ryan Dunfield's holding. Peddle's next tally short handed made the score 3-1 New Hampshire with 7:36 left in the third period.

New Hampshire was led by goalie Adam Higdon, who finished with 26 saves while allowing one goal. The solid play of Higdon will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 1.63.

New Hampshire's offense rang up 36 shots on Jersey Shore's net.

Jersey Shore put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow New Hampshire to score on any of its seven power plays.

Jersey Shore was led by Kevin Gruber, who scored the team's only goal. Gruber scored 12:01 into the third period to make the score 2-1 New Hampshire. Adam Person assisted on the tally.

New Hampshire incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Marc Schlaeger rejected 33 shots on goal for Jersey Shore. Jersey Shore incurred 24 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
