Smith's big game bests Little Britain in 7-4 Uxbridge win

The Uxbridge Bruins' Shane Smith had a big offensive game, scoring two goals and contributing one assist in his team's 7-4 win over the Little Britain Merchants.

Smith's tallies came at 2:49 into the second period to make the score 2-2 and on the power play 13:59 into the second to make the score 4-4.

The win gave Uxbridge a 1-0 lead in the best of seven series.

The Bruins forced Little Britain goalie Garrett Haden to work between the pipes, taking 53 shots.

Uxbridge additionally got points from Daryl Thomson, who also tallied one goal and two assists, Marco Mastrangelo, who also racked up one goal and one assist, and Tyson Eastgate, who also had one goal and one assist. Uxbridge also had goals scored by Alex Siblock and Todd Winder, who each put in one. In addition, Uxbridge received assists from Jarett Smith, who had two and Michael Spataro, Carter Vahey, Alex Williamson, Connor Evans, and Thomas Sheedy, who each chipped in one.

The Merchants were led by Brady Martin, who registered one goal and one assist. Martin scored 8:28 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Little Britain. Others who scored for Little Britain included Kurtis Moore, Nathan Hughes, and Hayden Long, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Little Britain were Jordan Sharpe, Curtis Lee, Mitchell Brown, Terry Snoddon, and Aidan Renouf, who contributed one each.

Uxbridge's Brandon Francey stopped 23 shots out of the 27 that he faced. The Bruins incurred 26 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Haden rejected 46 shots on goal for Little Britain. The Merchants incurred 48 minutes in penalty time with 14 minors.
