M1 Kent State University downs M1 Oakland University, 5-1

Curtis Swan had two points to lead the M1 Kent State University Golden Flashes to a 5-1 victory over the M1 Oakland University Golden Grizzlies.

M1 Kent State University put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow M1 Oakland University to score on any of its three power plays. The defensemen of the Golden Flashes were also effective in the Golden Grizzlies' zone, and came away with two goals. By firing 32 shots on goal, M1 Kent State University exceeded the 0.3 shots it averages per game this year.

M1 Kent State University also got points from Caleb Gannelli, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Others who scored for M1 Kent State University included Robert Rhue, Casey Barile, and Jared Fielden, who scored one goal each. In addition, M1 Kent State University received assists from Jonathon Buttitta, who had two and Ethan Martin, Troy Bubanic, and Andrew Radosevic, who each chipped in one.

M1 Oakland University could not produce up to its normal offensive output. The Golden Grizzlies average 4.4 goals per game. With 21 shots on target during the contest, M1 Oakland University exceeded the 2.5 shots it averages per game this year.

Zachary Nowak recorded 20 saves for the Golden Flashes. M1 Kent State University totaled 21 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 1-for-3 on the power play. For the Golden Flashes, Buttitta was ejected from the game. Sean Parker took the loss and made 13 saves before being replaced by Anthony Munoz who made 14 saves. The Golden Grizzlies incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
