Blenheim outlasts Amherstburg, 4-2

The Blenheim Blades gutted out a close 4-2 win against the Amherstburg Admirals.

No lead was more than two goals during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Teddy McGeen at 9:34 of the third period.

With the win, Blenheim avoided elimination to make the series score 3-2 in the best of seven series.

The Blades got the win on the strength of a great game by McGeen, who had two goals and one assist.

Blenheim's penalty kill excelled, as the Blades gave up one goal despite allowing seven power plays.

Blenheim also had goals scored by Dylan Muzzatti and Nolan VandenBoorn, who scored one goal each. In addition, Blenheim received assists from Tyler Boughner, who had two and Dylan Smith, Zack Horvath, Hunter Burk, and Mackenzie Dick, who each chipped in one.

Amherstburg was helped by Luke Gangnon, who tallied one goal. Gangnon scored 7:04 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Amherstburg. Brett Banwell picked up the assist. Amherstburg also got a goal from Blake Rutckyj as well. More assists for Amherstburg came via James Brooks and Chad Copeland, who contributed one each.

Klinton Kenney rejected 27 shots on goal for Blenheim. The Blades incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Arren Romeril recorded 22 saves for the Admirals. Amherstburg incurred 24 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
