Mahoney stymies Napanee, Campbellford wins 4-1

Cole Mahoney stood on his head and made 36 saves to lead the Campbellford Rebels to a 4-1 victory over the Napanee Raiders.

The win gave Campbellford a 1-0 lead in the best of seven series.

The Rebels were sparked by Jacob Bennett, who grabbed one goal. Bennett scored 17:16 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Campbellford. Ethan McDougall assisted on the tally.

Napanee was unable to stop Campbellford from sending pucks towards the net, and the Rebels eventually piled up 32 shots on goal.

Campbellford also had goals scored by Colin Doyle, Jon Samis, and Nick Ferguson, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Campbellford were Jeremiah Doherty, who had one and Andrew Doxtator, who had three.

The Raiders' offense rang up 37 shots on Campbellford's net.

Napanee was led by Evan Brown, who scored the team's only goal. Brown scored on the power play 6:38 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Napanee. The Raiders had taken the advantage when the Rebels' William Lameroux got sent off for slashing. Aidan Girduckis picked up the assist.

Campbellford incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Napanee's Tomo Mikuljan stopped 28 shots out of the 32 that he faced. The Raiders incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
