Wingham downs Kincardine in overtime, 2-1 (OT)

The Wingham Ironmen's Brett Brophy scored 4:58 into overtime to beat the Kincardine Bulldogs, 2-1 (OT).

The win by Wingham broke a deadlock and gave the Ironmen a 2-1 advantage in the best of seven series.

Wingham's Ben Nelson was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 31 saves and let only one puck past him. Despite the solid performance, Nelson will actually see his goals against average rise, as it stood at 0.48 entering the contest.

The Ironmen were led by Brophy, who registered one goal.

Wingham also got a goal from Holdyn Lansink as well. Other players who recorded assists for Wingham were Justin Jacklin, Keifer MacInnes, and Broedy Karelse, who each chipped in one.

Kincardine excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. The Bulldogs' offense rang up 32 shots on Wingham's net.

Kincardine was led by Chad Simpson, who scored the team's only goal. Simpson scored on the power play 19:00 into the second period to make the score 1-1. The Bulldogs had gained a power play chance when Jared Weishar was whistled for tripping. Alex Labrosse picked up the assist.

The Ironmen incurred 26 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Wingham ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Ryan McNeil was ejected from the game. Mitch Campbell recorded 26 saves for Kincardine. The Bulldogs incurred 30 minutes in penalty time with five minors. For Kincardine, Gerrit Satosek was ejected from the game.
