Little Britain wins tough contest against Port Perry, 6-4

The Little Britain Merchants and the Port Perry Mojacks were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Little Britain made the most of its opportunities and won, 6-4.

Neither team gained more than a two-goal lead, and Brady Martin's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker.

The win by the Merchants clinched the best of five series at 3-1.

Little Britain's penalty kill excelled, as the Merchants gave up zero goals despite allowing seven power plays.

Little Britain was sparked by Martin, who grabbed one goal. Martin scored 6:14 into the third period to make the score 5-4 Little Britain. Hayden Long picked up the assist.

The Merchants stifled Port Perry's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Mojacks were unable to stop Little Britain from sending pucks towards the net, and the Merchants eventually piled up 33 shots on goal.

Little Britain also got points from Long, who also finished with one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Little Britain also had goals scored by Terry Snoddon, Kurtis Moore, Nathan Hughes, and Mason Patterson, who each put in one. In addition, Little Britain received assists from Jesse Craig, Curtis Lee, Mitchell Brown, Kyle ODonnell, Brad Ward, and Greg McLean, who contributed one each.

Port Perry's offense rang up 37 shots on Little Britain's net. Penalties took their toll on the Mojacks, as their penalty kill unit let in two power play goals.

Port Perry was led by Lucas Clark, who had one goal and one assist. Clark scored 2:43 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Others who scored for Port Perry included Todd McNair, Konrad Piorkowski, and Jeff St. Pierre, who scored one goal each. More assists for Port Perry came via Kyle Powell, Brett Theissen, Owen Bateman, and Evan Wasylyk, who each chipped in one.

Garrett Haden made 33 saves for the Merchants on 37 shots. Little Britain incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Blake Shaw recorded 27 saves for the Mojacks. Port Perry incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
