Wellington squeaks by Hamilton, 6-4Mountain Arena Tue, Feb 17, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
The Wellington Dukes gutted out a close 6-4 win against the Hamilton Red Wings. No lead was more than two goals during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Josh Supryka at 13:25 of the third period. Supryka had two goals and one assist to lead Wellington. Supryka scored the first of his two goals at 15:01 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Nick Devito provided the assist. Supryka's next tally made the score 5-4 Wellington with 6:35 left in the third period. Devito picked up the assist. The Dukes' offense rang up 39 shots on Hamilton's net. Wellington surpassed its usual scoring output this season. The Dukes average 3.4 goals per game. Wellington also got points from Will Cook, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Abbott Girduckis, who also registered two goals and one assist, and Devito, who also racked up one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. More assists for Wellington came via Brody Morris and Ben Sokay, who each chipped in one and Brandon Kosik and Joe McKeown, who contributed two each. The Red Wings kept Wellington's goalie busy throughout the game, and Daniel Potter made 29 saves on 33 shots. Hamilton was led by Rylee St. Onge, who had two goals and one assist. St. Onge scored the first of his two goals short handed at 19:10 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Hamilton. The Red Wings found themselves down a man on Lucas Condotta's checking from behind. Matt Smith provided the assist. St. Onge's next tally short handed made the score 4-3 Hamilton with 14:36 left in the third period. Nicholas Lepone assisted on the tally. Hamilton additionally got points from Joseph Mitchell, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Josh LaFrance also scored for Hamilton. In addition, Hamilton received assists from Joel Knight and Laine McKay, who each chipped in one. The Dukes incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Jordan Cartney made 33 saves for Hamilton on 39 shots. The Red Wings totaled seven minutes in penalty time with one minor and one major and went 1-for-2 on the power play. Hamilton ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Condotta was ejected from the game.
