Welsh's big game bests Stayner in 5-2 Orillia win

The Orillia Terriers' Brock Welsh had a big offensive game, scoring one goal and contributing two assists in his team's 5-2 win over the Stayner Siskins.

Welsh beat Trevor Bloch with a shot 18:33 into the second period to make the score 4-2 Orillia. Jacob Beard assisted on the tally. Welsh dished an assist on Beard's goal that made the score 2-2 at 6:08 into the second period. He added another helper on Denny Benson's goal that made the score 5-2 Orillia at 6:43 into the third period.

After the loss made the series score 3-2 in the best of seven series, Stayner faces elimination next time out.

Orillia's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Stayner power plays. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals.

Orillia additionally got points from Beard, who also racked up one goal and two assists. Mathew White also scored for Orillia. In addition, Orillia received assists from Jason Binnie and Jordan Felix, who contributed one each.

The Terriers were unable to stop the Siskins from sending pucks towards the net, and Stayner eventually piled up 46 shots on goal.

The Siskins were helped by Ricky Darrell, who finished with one goal. Darrell scored 1:17 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Stayner. Stayner also got a goal from Ben Lougheed as well. More assists for Stayner came via Dylan Bursey and Derick Robertson, who each chipped in one.

Gordie Weiss rejected 44 shots on goal for Orillia. The Terriers incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Stayner's starting goalie, Trevor Bloch, made 11 saves and finished with the loss before he was taken out in favor of Nick Keleher, who stopped four shots. The Siskins incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
