M2 Elon University survives M3-Charleston College of comeback, wins 3-1Carolina Ice Palace Fri, Jan 30, 2015 M3-Charleston College of tried its best to erase a three-goal deficit, but the M2 Elon University Phoenix would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 3-1. M2 Elon University took a 3-0 lead during the third period, only to have M3-Charleston College of storm back on a Joe Corsi goal 4:41 into the third period to pull to two goals down. The Phoenix were led by goalie Colin Langham, who finished with 26 saves while allowing one goal. Langham certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 2.24 entering the contest. M2 Elon University stifled M3-Charleston College of's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Phoenix's defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals. With 31 shots on target during the contest, M2 Elon University exceeded the 0.1 shots it averages per game this year. The Phoenix could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 18 minutes in penalties during the game. M2 Elon University was helped by Evan Weisburger, who registered one goal. Weisburger scored 19:14 into the first period to make the score 2-0 M2 Elon University. Sam Sarath picked up the assist. M2 Elon University additionally got points from Sarath, who also racked up one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. M2 Elon University also got a goal from Griffin Wolno as well. M3-Charleston College of put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Phoenix to score on any of their four power plays.
