Lucan falls to Dorchester in overtime, 4-3 (OT)

The Dorchester Dolphins' Patrick Freel scored 46 seconds into overtime to beat the Lucan Irish, 4-3 (OT).

After the loss made the series score 3-1 in the best of seven series, Lucan faces elimination next time out.

Dorchester overcame a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. The Dolphins was down 3-1 after a power play goal by the Irish's Luke Medeiros at 19:48 in the first period. Dorchester tied things up at 3-3 on a goal by Chris Carreiro at 12:46 in the second period.

In a losing effort, Lucan was led by Medeiros, who racked up two goals. Medeiros scored the first of his two goals at 17:49 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Lucan. Mitch Smith provided the assist. Medeiros' next tally made the score 3-1 Lucan with 12 seconds left in the first period. The Irish had taken the advantage when the Dolphins' Tyler Blue got sent off for interference. Zach Beaumont picked up the assist.

Dorchester forced Lucan goalie Andrew Ganter to work between the pipes, taking 44 shots.

Dorchester also had goals scored by Bryan McCauley and Collin Hartwick, who each put in one. In addition, Dorchester received assists from Jordan Fuller, Michael Blue, Liam Gillooly, Mark Brisson, and Ryan Tuffin, who each chipped in one.

The Irish excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. The Dolphins were unable to stop Lucan from sending pucks towards the net, and the Irish eventually piled up 43 shots on goal.

Jake Morin also scored for Lucan. Other players who recorded assists for Lucan were Garrett Hodgson, who had one.

Dorchester's Kent Taylor stopped 40 shots out of the 43 that he faced. The Dolphins incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Ganter recorded 40 saves for Lucan. The Irish totaled 21 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 1-for-5 on the power play. For Lucan, Mitch Morin was ejected from the game.
